I’m a dental hygienist. I have been in the profession for 25 years. I went to school in Maine at UNE (University of New England) and my mother always brought us kids there to get our teeth cleaned, so I think that ‘s the reason why I picked the profession.
One thing that’s good about my job is that it’s a good part-time job as well as a part-time job.
I enjoy making people’s smiles nice and bright and healthy and to get them to be aware that their dental health is important part of their overall health.
I enjoy meeting the different people that come into my office… learning about their lives, their families and it’s been kind of like a big family…
If you’d like to be in a dental hygiene profession, you want to focus on your sciencies in high school. Maybe job shadow a hygienist in the office – that ‘s a good way to find ou about what they do on a daily basis… and go from there! It’s a great profession!
